Sons of Paradise is a reggae-rock band proudly hailing from Raleigh, North Carolina. ABOUT DALE AND THE ZDUBS:
From prison to pandemic, Dale and the ZDubs aka “Snail and the Zebras” are back in full force. Inspired by Dale’s 2017 to 2020 incarceration for a non-violent drug crime, DZD’s most recent full length, “Off The Rip,” dropped in mid 2024. Blending groovy reggae influences with a hard hitting rock style, DZD is here to tell raw, ridiculous, and vulnerable stories while thrilling audiences across the country. As Snail describes the genre-bending quartet, “We are storytellers. And when we tell these stories, there are no click tracks, no vocal processing, and no backing tracks. WE PLAY LIVE!”

After the three-year hiatus, DZD went to work putting instrumentation and melody behind the lyrics Dale wrote on the inside. Dale also hit up some old friends to be part of the comeback. The result is the current steady stream of dope-ass singles including “This Time” ft. The Elovaters, “Pathological” ft. Bumpin Uglies, “Johnny Freight” ft. Passafire, and of course, “Her Melody” ft. HIRIE. In addition, ska-punk-fan-favorite, “Neighbors,” ft. BALLYHOO! was also finally released on the new 12-song LP, “Off The Rip.”

In early 2024, a seismic lineup shift occurred. Snail selected a new prolific cast of players hailing from up and down the East Coast, and plugged them into the nationally touring act. The new Zebra blood includes multi-instrumentalist and vocalist, Mark King (bass and harmonies), formerly of The Elovaters (Pembroke, MA), and groove specialist Ethan Jones aka “The Marine” (drums and vocals), formerly of The Orange Constant (Athens, GA). The newest piece to DZD’s sound and style is Josh Boyd (lead guitar) out of Wilmington, NC. Joshy is a rare talent who brings both a heavier rock and jam-influenced element to the live performance. These new ZDubs have invigorated DZD’s classic sound, but with upgraded energy and bravado. “We’ve toured the country with Snail and the Zebras. Their live show has what I call, ‘the sauce,’ and it may be too spicy for some,” said Jackson Hauserman, lead guitarist of Kash’d Out.

DZD’s obsession with performing live keeps the wheels on the tour van turning across the country. DZD has recently shared the stage with the likes of Sublime with Rome, Andy Frasco, Little Stranger, Kash’d Out, Long Beach Dub Allstars, Joe Samba, and Artikal Sound System. High-energy live shows feature vocal harmonies, thick guitar-driven melodies, and fat rhythm section based grooves. And sometimes Snail gets a little crazy on stage too.

First hearing the Bob Marley song “One Love” in Ireland as a 12 years old boy Kevin Kinsella received his calling to play Reggae music. Founding his first band The Tribulations when he was fifteen he soon found himself opening up for Toots and the Maytals who gave him strong encouragement to continue his vocation. In 1995 Kevin founded and named his second group – John Brown’s Body.

Kevin Kinsella has been recognized as a true disciple of roots reggae music and both a pioneer and veteran of the Reggae movement in the United States. With a distinctive and powerful voice, a unique and recognizable writing style and spirit filled presence and performance energy – Kevin Kinsella continues to be an important contributor to Reggae music, not only in the United States – but to the world.

ABOUT JOHN LANDRY:
John Matthew Landry is a solo live looping artist who incorporates drums, bass, piano, guitar and singing into his performance as a one man band. Born in Mesa, AZ and raised between Phoenix and Long Beach, CA — he started playing piano when he was only 6 years old and continued to pursue music throughout his life. After an 8 year term with the United States Marine Corps as an infantryman, John left the USMC as a Sergeant with an Honorable Discharge and was accepted into California State Long Beach – Bob Cole Conservatory of Music. His eclectic influences span across many genres and provides a wide range of cover songs and originals from pop, soul, RandB, funk, rock n roll, blues, country, reggae and hip hop.

ABOUT IKE KANAKANUI:
Ike Kanakanui is a songwriter first and foremost. If you’ve seen one of Ike’s shows you’ve probably seen him improvise a song (or three) mixed among originals and a few covers. He creates each song using a technique called live-looping – a process of building the song by layering live-recorded elements using an array of instruments.

At 18, Ike joined the Explosive Ordinance Disposal Unit of the United States Navy. After several near-death experiences in Iraq, he decided instead to pursue his passion for music (and develop a new one – sailing) aboard a Cal 39 sailboat named The Freedom Boat. Charting a course through the Caribbean from Key West, Florida, he began playing music for and with locals wherever he went. In 2013, he settled in Puerto Rico where he lived until The Freedom Boat sank in Hurricane Maria. He currently resides and plays in Key West.

Ike is a Hawaii-born, global-grown musician with musical influences spanning basically every known genre. His travels and experiences with other cultures and musicians have led Ike to develop a truly unique, engaging, and entertaining style. He feels grateful every day to be able to share his passion with those around him along this journey called life.

ABOUT MARLON FUNAKI: Born and raised 40 miles east of Los Angeles and hailing from a multicultural, music-loving family, singer-songwriter/multi-instrumentalist Marlon Funaki has long been fascinated by the exploration of sound. From a young age, Funaki was obsessed with the music his father played around the house while doing household chores and voraciously absorbing everything within earshot. Hearing bands like Red Hot Chili Peppers, Led Zeppelin, My Bloody Valentine, and Pink Floyd, along with reggae, ‘70s Afro-funk, and ‘90s hip-hop, became significant influences, rather than the music he had played as a middle school student in symphonic and marching bands.

Now signed to Warner Records, Funaki follows his own singular path, constantly searching and exploring new soundscapes that will continue to evolve and push the limits of creative expression free from any kind of genrefication. “I still don’t think I’ve truly found my definitive, specific sound,” he says. “Yet I don’t know if I ever will, which I think could be a good thing.”

A magnetic, engaging, natural on-stage personality backed by an equally potent band of like-minded friends that have the ability to kinetically respond to his compositions, Funaki has become one of the hottest and sharpest young musicians to emerge onto the indie scene. As much as he loves being on the road, creating and composing is where he’s at his most comfortable. It shows in his meticulous attention to detail, which has been channeled in his recordings. Funaki estimates that when composing his first recordings, he would dissect every aspect of each track and play every instrument himself in search of a perfect sound. “I’m a hermit crab,” he says. “I like to be in my studio. I love to make music. This is what I do when I’m not on tour.”

After spending the better part of the past couple of years on the road playing to packed clubs filled with enthusiastic young fans, Funaki is excited to return to his Southern California home studio preparing his next set of genre-melding releases. His unique blend of soulful, psychedelic indie rock, with R&B, hip-hop and flourishes of shoegaze and jazz allows his muse to move in any/all directions at once and still come away sounding only like Marlon Funaki.

ABOUT THE KILANS: Emerging from the Salt Lake City music scene, The Kilans are an indie rock band known for their raw sound and intense live shows. Formed in 2023, the band features Jack Ongman on vocals and rhythm guitar, Jacob Shultz on lead guitar, Cooper Brezoff on bass, and David Wiseman on drums. It all started when Jack and Jacob met while skateboarding in college and began jamming together. They soon brought in David and Cooper, and everything clicked.

ABOUT EVERCLEAR: Everclear, one of the leading alternative rock bands to emerge from the ‘90s, celebrated their 30th Anniversary in recent years, and founder, vocalist and guitarist Art Alexakis has made it clear that he has no plans to slow down. Since forming in 1992, Everclear has enjoyed a lengthy career by any measure, spanning 11 studio releases, including four that have been certified Gold or Platinum, selling over 6 million records, and achieving 12 Top 40 Hit Singles on Mainstream Rock, Alternative, and Adult Top 40 radio, including “Santa Monica,” “Father of Mine,” “I Will Buy You A New Life,” “Wonderful” and “Everything To Everyone,” as well as numerous videos, thousands of shows, and various other accolades, including a 1998 Grammy nomination.

The original 1993 release of World of Noise, paired with the band’s significant efforts to break into college radio and the buzz they’d created within the Portland music scene, attracted the attention of major labels, including Capitol Records, which signed the group soon after. Beginning with their major-label debut, 1995’s platinum-selling album Sparkle and Fade, and its massive chart-topping hit “Santa Monica,” Everclear was soon a household name and catapulted into the masses, thus allowing their impressive three-decade career to prosper and endure.

In 2019, while being treated for an injury caused by a minor car accident, Alexakis was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis (MS) and learned that he had likely been living with the disease for nearly twenty years. Since being diagnosed, Art has donated one dollar from every ticket purchased for his performances to charities such as Sweet Relief Musicians Fund and National MS Society.

In 2022, Everclear reissued World Of Noise as a special 30th Anniversary remastered, deluxe edition, making the album available for the first time on digital streaming platforms with 6 bonus songs in addition to its original 12 tracks. Adding to the celebrations that year, Everclear released a commemorative anniversary video, “Everclear – 30 Years Gone: A Retrospective,” hosted by former MTV VJ, current radio host and longtime friend Matt Pinfield, and embarked on a lengthy North American Tour. One special stop on the tour, back in Alexakis’ hometown of Los Angeles, was recorded and filmed for a new live album. ABOUT ECHOSTONE: Echostone is a rock band from the Carolinas bringing back a nostalgic early 2000’s radio rock sound, but with a modern edge. Corey Smith developed a passion for music at a young age. After graduating from the University of Georgia, he worked briefly as a high school teacher before turning his focus full-time to music. As the scion of one of the Islands’ esteemed surfing families, McNamara’s earliest experiences came baptized by the power of the ocean. Yet, music, from a young age, proved as magnetic as the heavy current of the Pacific; home video of McNamara as a toddler captures him grooving to a Ziggy Marley performance in Turtle Bay.

Music was meditative; a release. It felt good for the socially anxious musician reared on the reggae poetry of Bob Marley and the psychedelic majesty of Jimi Hendrix. He collaborated with local reggae group, The Late Ones, filming an impromptu take of his original, “Jam With You,” and posted the fledgling video on YouTube.

“To write, I just have to be passionate- in any direction- or have something hit me in my heart,” he explains. “Which, for me, is everyday life.” In addition to the new single “If You Only Knew,” Landon has also completed an adventurous EP with highly regarded up n’ coming California artist /producer, singer, and songwriter, DENM. Recorded on the North Shore of Oahu, the collection is a result of McNamara and Slum Beach Denny mixing it up and having too much fun at Landon’s home studio, all while under the influence of the many gifts of nature from Hawaii’s royal landscape. The experiment yielded 5 new gems, including the next up n coming summer drop, “Wild Trip”, a heady biographical account of the duo’s exploits on the island!

“Early on I got a little taste of the trajectory I was on,” McNamara says. “Now, my biggest fear is not living up to my potential. I’m driven to live up to it and doing the work to get it to where I know it can go.”

Charles Esten is an accomplished American actor, comedian, and singer-songwriter known for his versatile performances on both screen and stage. Esten first gained national attention as a popular recurring performer on the improvisational comedy series “Whose Line Is It Anyway?” where his quick wit and musical improvisations made him a standout favorite.

ABOUT WILDERADO:
When Wilderado began writing songs for their second album, Talker, the idea of chasing after their debut record’s success — including pair of Top 10 hits on alternative radio — couldn’t have been further from their minds.

“We were coming off 265 days on the road, and we all felt a little broken,” says frontman Maxim Rainer. “We had to ask ourselves if we still wanted to do this, and we decided that the only way to rejuvenate the band was by making new music that we love. That was our only rule.”

The result is Talker, a dynamic record that finds Wilderado reframing their purpose and broadening their perspective. Recorded with producers Chad Copeland (Sufjan Stevens, SYML) and James McAllister (Gracie Abrams, The National) in Norman, Oklahoma, it’s the sound of three musicians shrugging off the allure of success and, instead, embracing the thrill of the unknown.

“This record was a process of rediscovering the things that made us excited about our band at the very beginning, back when we were writing songs for nobody but ourselves,” says Rainer, a Tulsa native who co-formed Wilderado in 2015. “When you’re a brand new band, you have no expectation of anyone else hearing you. We wanted to go back to the beginning and revisit that excitement.”

Like all of Wilderado’s releases, Talker blurs the boundaries between genres, creating a multi- sided sound — soft-hued and subdued one moment; anthemic and buoyant the next — that defies categorization. “We’ve always had an eclectic catalog and an ‘anything goes’ mentality, where the only thing that matters is the song itself,” Rainer says. Appropriately, the songs are the real stars of Talker. With “Sometimes,” Rainer pulls back the curtain to expose the skeletons in his own closet, including the coping mechanisms that most keep under wraps. “Sometimes I hide it when I’m high,” he sings in a Midwestern drawl, contrasting the vulnerability of his lyrics with bright acoustic guitars and sunny, singalong hooks. He gets personal during “Tomorrow,” too, turning a hypnotic guitar pattern from bandmate Tyler Wimpee into the launchpad for a song that tackles big topics like religion and being trapped in a search for God. “Tyler used to play that riff every night during soundcheck,” he explains. “It helped me write something I’ve always wanted to write, which is about my relationship with the Church, my experience growing up in a Christian family, and where it’s left me now. It felt very freeing to say those things. A lot of our first LP was about being on the road, and I didn’t want to regurgitate that same idea on our new album. Instead, I decided to get confessional and vulnerable.”

He got collaborative, too. In addition to writing songs with his two bandmates — guitarist Wimpee and drummer Justin Kila — Rainer also teamed up with the British band Flyte, whom Wilderado had met in London while on tour in 2022. Together, they created songs like “Longstanding Misunderstanding,” writing the track during a 25-minute burst of creation in the recording studio. “A big part of my growing process with this album was learning to ask for help, which isn’t easy for me to do,” he admits. “But it turned out so beautiful, every time I did.”

Equally beautiful were the new album’s mellower moments. “Everyone in Wilderado had fallen in love with music that was softer on our ears, and that influenced our writing,” says Rainer, who sings Talker’s songs in an unforced voice that occasionally gives way to a gentle, high- flying falsetto. “We began asking ourselves, ‘What if we keep the drive and the groove that’s always been part of our music, but dial back the approach of both the vocals and the drums?'”

The strategy worked, filling songs like “Bad Luck,” “Tomorrow,” and the title track with a mix of laidback swagger and calm, collected energy. Talker still finds moments to get loud, too, building its way toward atmospheric crescendoes with “Waiting On You” and “After All.”

Wilderado aren’t chasing after hits. They’re just being themselves — and enjoying it. With Talker, they’ve hit a new stride, fueling themselves up on sharp songwriting and adventurous arrangements before setting off toward some new horizon. This is Wilderado at their best: inspired, invigorated, and answering to nobody but themselves.

ABOUT SAM BURCHFIELD:
The title of Sam Burchfield’s latest album, Nature Speaks, is both a statement of belief and an instruction: to listen carefully, to feel the world move through you, and to heed its loving nudge.
Recorded in just five days at Studio 1093 in Athens, Georgia with co-producers and collaborators Ryan Plumley and Jason Kingsland (Delta Spirit, Youth Lagoon, Deerhunter), the upcoming album is Burchfield’s most stripped-down and spirit-forward to date.

“Just before we recorded, I was in New York City on tour,” Burchfield shares. “My wife was at home, pregnant with our second child. I was taking a walk through Washington Square Park, feeling this hyper-vivid awareness of the beauty of the city, and at the same time, this intense pain of being away from my family.” In that moment, a man sitting at a public space piano began playing the song Burchfield’s partner walked down the aisle to at their wedding. Coincidence or cosmic wink, it stirred Burchfield’s soul. “It felt like walking through a portal.”

For Burchfield, like many of us, it took a moment of poignant distance to illuminate his place of utmost belonging—back in the Blue Ridge Mountains, among his family. And with that radical clarity came a revitalized artistic confidence, a turning point in accepting and trusting his own musical intuition, the intuition from which Nature Speaks beautifully emerges.

Burchfield grew up in serene Seneca, South Carolina. His instinct to write was there from the start, his itch to share was unrelenting. He spent his childhood setting speakers up in parking lots and coffee shops, playing with whomever would join him on “stage” to whomever would listen. At college in Athens, Georgia, he found the scene he’d been trying to create for himself. Opportunities emerged in rapid succession. Burchfield won a songwriting competition, recorded his first EP, and found himself suddenly entangled in sparkly offerings from network television and major labels, chances that ultimately felt more like a detour than a dream come true.

“It was honestly insane,” says Burchfield. “Things felt a little out of my control. I had to really lean on people I respected, whose wisdom I trusted—teachers, friends, family.” Burchfield recognized early on the indispensability of creative autonomy, and the sources of support that kept him grounded. “My community gave me the courage to walk away from paths that didn’t feel right.”

He’s been building a catalog since 2014—originals, concept works, and live recordings. “I think there are like, four or five albums out there at this point?” Burchfield questions, endearingly unprecious. He is as sincere and unassuming as his guitar-playing—earthy and affectingly to-the-point. “Truthfully, it’s been a long journey toward artistic identity. I’ve learned a lot about living into yourself, discovering who you are by simply being.” Nature Speaks is no doubt Burchfield’s best offering to date, largely due to that resonant sense of self.

The album came together during a momentous new phase of fatherhood. “There is always something to sacrifice in the present in order to create a future,” Burchfield says. “And in many ways, I used music to parent myself through all the changes.” Burchfield impulsively penned and tracked the stunning album closer “Morning Light” at home, around three o’clock in the morning. The song softly buzzes with the white noise of a sleeping household, a lullaby of its own kind. “I was writing a message of comfort to myself when I needed it,” he says. His vocals are hushed and heavy with the weight of profound transformation, a soothing surrender to the life that lay ahead.

The theme of commitment glitters throughout Nature Speaks. Standout single “Stay (Betty Blue)” is a tender and arresting tune of devotion, a vow of stability against wavering mental health and the general fragility of life. Burchfield wrote it for his wife—a musician, painter and poet—on their anniversary. “You don’t know what you’re going to have to confront when you enter a relationship. We all have different battles to fight.” In his sandy, evocative vocals, he makes the colorful promises that account for real love: And if you get lost on the other side, I’ll plant roses in your mind / If you go mad and hurt yourself, I can lick your wounds until you’re well.

Burchfield’s sixth release is a source of sacred calm in an overwhelming world, a generous invitation into a rooted life: a family’s unconditional love, a hometown’s soothing mountainscape, a sturdy salvation in knowing who you are. “Capturing and connecting with humanity is why I make music,” says Burchfield. “This album is more human than anything I’ve done before.”
